Solar Hot Water Incentives, SRCC & DSIRE Database

DSIRE is a database of Solar Energy and Renewable Energy Incentives, Rebates and Tax Credits that are available to Solar Hot Water Customers in the United States.  Currently, DSIRE covers all active Solar Hot Water Incentives, including all of those offered by the Federal Government, State Governments, and those offered by local municipalities and individual energy companies and utilities.

DSIRE can be found at www.dsireusa.org , and is one of the most informative and important resources available to customers, manufacturer and distributors in the Renewable Energy Industries.

Currently, in the United States, most incentives require that the the Solar Collectors, or the Solar Hot Water Systems that are being purchased and installed be tested and certified the SRCC (Solar Rating & Certification Corporation).  The SRCC’s independent testing and certification program allows system purchasers and governments the ability to compare Solar Collectors and Solar Hot Water Systems against each other, allowing for the the best system to be chosen based on a cost-benefit analysis.

Currently, there are two key Federal Incentives for Solar Hot Water Systems:

  • A Personal Tax Credit - used for Residential Solar Hot Water System Owners.  This is a 30% income tax credit that has  $2,000 maximum credit limit.  Combined with State and Local Incentives, the Federal Personal Tax Credit can assist in cutting the cost or a Solar Hot Water System by 50% or more.
  • A Corporate Tax Credit - used for commercial Solar Hot Water System Owners.  This is a 30% income tax credit that has no cap limit.  In other words, if a company invests in a $10,000 Solar Hot Water System, their Federal Tax Credit will be $3,000 dollars.

These Federal Tax Credits, and the accompanying State and Local Incentives, assist in dramatically lowering the cost of a Solar Hot Water System for all customers, and can reduce the payback period of a Solar Hot Water System to 3 years, or less.

For more information on Solar Hot Water Incentives & Tax Credits, you should contact your local solar professional, a Solar Hot Water Manufacturer or Distributor, such as SunMaxx Solar (www.sunmaxxsolar.com) or visit DSIRE.
